New Research Programme: AI in Middle Office and Operations

Distinctive Insights is launching a new research programme focused on AI in Middle Office and Operations across buy-side, sell-side and market infrastructure environments.

Over recent months, we have been tracking a number of developments across this rapidly evolving landscape.

One of our starting observations is that many operational technology vendors had already built sophisticated machine-intelligence capabilities long before the current LLM cycle – particularly around document processing, workflow automation, reconciliation and operational data handling.

We are now seeing a new phase emerge where vendors are increasingly layering AI capabilities into these existing operational platforms.

Amongst other things, we are interested in looking behind the headlines to determine to what extent these capabilities are truly novel, versus representing an evolution of earlier operational intelligence and automation capabilities.
